Butterfly House celebrated the occasion with a children’s march around the informal settlement of Fairyland and hosted an open day filled with singing and dancing and showcasing some of their talents. The SAWIP 2012 team, Aubrey Ngcungama (SAWIP Board member), and Sabelo Mcinziba (Alumnus 2009) participated in the march around the informal settlement.

The SAWIP Team met separately with Mrs. Elizabeth Scrimgeour (CEO, Drankenstein Palliative Hospice) who explained the functions of the Hospice holistic programmes in supporting all patients (infected and affected) with a life-threatening illness. She also spoke about Butterfly House’s day care programmes which range from early childhood, youth, adult and home-based care. The team now feels more prepared to engage in contemporary health issues facing SA and its region.
