The Board of SAWIP-SA is very pleased to announce the appointment of Shannon Bernhardt as SAWIP’s National Programme Manager. He will formally join the management team on the 1st of February, 2016.

Shannon’s academic background is in the Social Sciences with majors in Political Science and Economics. He holds an Honours Degree and is currently busy with a Masters Degree in Political Science by course work. All his studies have been through the University of Cape Town.

Shannon has contributed significantly to the leadership and student life on his university campus and has been recognized at the highest level for this. He served on the Student Representative Council (SRC), holding the offices of Vice-President: Internal Affairs (2008/9) and Secretary-General (2009/10) as well as holding the Marketing portfolio for Ubunye, a student-run development agency based at the University of Cape Town and as a staff member served as the Deputy Chair of the Department of Student Affairs Transformation Committee. He has tutored students, performed logistical duties as an election officer on campus and co-ordinated the Societies and Day House activities.

Shannon’s skills and attributes are well-aligned with SAWIP and we look forward to welcoming him on the 1st of February when he will ‘hit the ground running’.
