SAWIP management is pleased to announce SAWIP’s Western Cape Team Managers for 2016 – Faith Pienaar (SAWIP Alumna 2015), and Safa Naraghi (SAWIP Alumn 2015). The Team Managers will be assisting in the recruitment of a wide pool of candidates, the implementation of the SAWIP curriculum, and inspiring the 2016 team members to reach their potential.

Faith Pienaar holds a BSc Agriculture in Viticulture and Oenology from Stellenbosch University and she has recently completed her postgraduate studies in Marketing at Stellenbosch University. Faith currently works in the Transformation Office at Stellenbosch University. She is committed to student leadership and to the mentoring of younger students. She served as the Vice-Primaria at Goldfields residence in 2012/2013 where she initiated Brunch Conversations – a dialogue platform on the changing identity of her residence and greater campus. Faith is passionate about ensuring the success of first generation students. In 2014 and 2015 she served as an executive member for the Aweness first generation camp where she successfully introduced a community engagement pillar to the camp, exposing new students to the challenges facing their surrounding community. In 2014, she was one of 18 South African recipients of the Abe Bailey Travel Bursary to the UK. She served as a course coordinator at the Fredrick van Zyl Slabbert Institute for Student Leadership Development, where she coordinated the Democracy and Citizenship short course in 2015. In her spare time, she enjoys writing and is a blogger for the new world wine-makers forum for Anchor Yeast.

Safa Naraghi has completed his final year of a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. He is part of the Golden Key International Honour Society and has been on the Dean’s Merit List for 4 years. Safa enjoys spending his time participating in Junior Youth classes inspired by his religion, the Baha’i Faith. These classes teach Junior Youth (aged 12 to 15) the importance of service to their communities and also instil valuable morals. Safa is a passionate believer in helping youth grow their confidence. He feels that confidence goes a long way to helping them achieve their goals. Safa is also very enthusiastic about technology and how it can shape the face of Africa. He hopes to one day implement low cost renewable energy solutions in Africa. In doing so, Safa hopes to relieve the population of the high cost and health hazard associated with current energy solutions.

It gives us great pleasure to welcome the Team Managers who are inspiring, dynamic and passionate to the SAWIP management team as we look forward to 2016.
