The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

Harry Calver

Mr. A. Harry Calver was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated in 1968 from The University of Newcastle upon Tyne with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering. He holds a Business Management Qualification from the University of South Africa and The Harvard Business School.

He spent over forty years in the global mining industry as an Engineer, Mine Manager, Executive and Director. Most recently Harry was a Techno-Business Consultant in public/private partnerships.

Harry is retired but still holds a number of board appointments and has been associated with SAWIP since 2009. In July 2011, he spent two weeks in Washington D.C. as a volunteer, participating in and monitoring the SAWIP program, to inform him as how best to promote and support the organization.

Harry is married with two adult sons and three grandchildren. He enjoys tennis, walking and “natural Africa”.
