First week in DC is over-it has been fast paced, exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. However the weekend has given me sufficient time to explore the city and rejuvenate my life supplies. I have found my feet in the corporate jungle-and I am looking forward to the Woodrow Wilson Centre event where a few of my colleagues will be engaged in a high level panel discussion.
On friday,we interacted with individuals from the NSL and WIP 2014 class-this added a bit of diversity in our interactions and gave us the platform to share differing views on reconciliation and nation building given the role-playing mediation scenario we had set before us. How we all resolved the issue was by drawing on various experiences from our respective countries, and using these to add abit of flavour in brokering peace.
Prior to this we had a powerful session on leadership, the facilitator was amazing and a breath of fresh air, out of the many things he spoke about, this stuck with me “It takes a lot of courage to question the unknown but it takes a lot more courage to question the known”
This fuelled my ideals of “challenging the status quo”, i do believe that our world needs individuals who will look at the same problems that have plagued mankind differently-and as a result derive newer ways of fixing these issues. I hope that I can be a vanguard of such ideals like the many great leaders who walked before us….they were never afraid of questioning and testing the limits, even when faced with grave danger.
A perfect reply! Thanks for taking the trbuloe.
