The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

SAWIP Team Meets with Irish Ambassador to South Africa


SAWIP Class of 2012 members with Ambassador Brendan McMahon, Brian Currin (SAWIP Volunteer Executive Director) and Aubrey Ngcungama (SAWIP Board member).

On August 6th 2012 the South Africa-Washington International Program Class of 2012 met with the Irish Ambassador to South Africa, Mr. Brendan McMahon, and SAWIP Volunteer Executive Director, Mr. Brian Currin. The Class deepened their knowledge of the history, socio-economic and political conditions and challenges facing the youth of Ireland.

The team was able to relate the discussion with their experience this June and July in Washington, DC where they regularly interacted with colleagues of our sister program, The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership.
