The closing date for 2014 applications is on Midnight, 14 February 2014.

If you have been selected for an interview, you will be notified in late February 2014. (If you have not been selected, you will receive email notification.)

The Cape Town office will assign you a time for your personal interview in early March 2014.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE INTERVIEW

If you are contacted for an interview, you should prepare and dress as if you were going to a professional job interview. Please bring a copy of:

  • Your current short-form CV
  • Official academic transcripts
  • Two recent letters of recommendation
  • Copies of awards, published articles, or any other achievements
  • A digital and hard copy of a portrait which we can use on the web site


If you are successful in the interview stage you will be invited to the SAWIP selection camp (mid March, 2014). If you are successfully chosen after the selection camp, you will be notified and expected to attend the orientation weekend which will take place in late March 2014. At that time, you will be required to sign a contract with the South Africa-Washington International Program indicating that you will abide by all the expectations and rules of the program.

Your eligibility for SAWIP is dependent on your total availability for program activities from April through September including selection and orientation weekends, completion of the community service hours, full participation in the curriculum in South Africa and the US, and graduation.
