An Evening of Tributes and Celebration: SAWIP Hosts Screening of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”

On December 10, 2013, as world leaders gathered in Johannesburg to pay their final respects to President Nelson Mandela, SAWIP-U.S. board members, supporters and friends joined in Washington, D.C. to pay tributes to this global icon by hosting a private screening of the Mandela biopic “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.” The screening gave an opportunity for friends of South Africa and SAWIP to come together and remember the incomparable life and legacy of Nelson Mandela.

We invite you to watch the video for comments made by Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) and Ambassador Donald Gips before the screening.

SAWIP is grateful to our Presenting Sponsors Google, Inc, Hogan Lovells and Mary Anne Sullivan and Larry Petro for making this event possible. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the SAWIP Business Champion of 2013, the Standard Bank Group, and Gold Sponsor Boeing who, along with a number of corporate and individual donors, supported this event with financial and in-kind contributions.
